Improving Posture

Are you looking for information on improving posture? Taking the steps necessary to stand up taller is not only going to make you feel better about yourself, but it’s going to really improve your overall body image as well.

Many people often are not using good posture throughout the day and this is what leads to very bad habits developing.  Fortunately, if you take the right steps to improving posture you can quickly overcome this and start building new, long-lasting good posture habits.

Let’s take a look at the three main steps that you need to know so you can start improving posture immediately.

Increase Body Awareness

The very first step to improving posture is to increase the level of body awareness you have.  Often people don’t even realize that they are not using proper posture until they actually start checking for it.

To do this, simply stand so that your feet are against a wall and see how well your lower back aligns up.

If there is a large gap between the back and your wall, you’re suffering from an extreme sway back and this definitely means you must be working to improve posture.

Strengthen The Abdominal Muscles

Second, after you’ve identified that you are using incorrect posture, the next step for improving posture is to strengthen the abdominal core muscles.  When these are nice and strong it will be easier for them to maintain the proper position in the body and pull those hips up to improve the spinal column position.

Just ten minutes of abdominal work three times a week should be sufficient to notice great strength gains in the ab muscles.

Practice Deep Breathing

Finally, the last step to improving posture is to practice deep breathing.  If you’re constantly taking shallow breaths throughout the day that too can cause poor posture to develop.  Each and every hour make a concentrated effort to take ten deep breaths in.  That will quickly help you work towards improving posture.

So don’t overlook any of these three steps.  They may only take minutes to do but each will have a huge impact on your ability to achieve this goal.
